I live for fall and football season and pass my time through the summer with a healthy dose of baseball, but one thing that I do regardless of what time of the year it is, is to watch the show The Sports Reporters on ESPN on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. central standard time. On this show there is one reporter who leads a panel of 3 other reporters in discussion about sports related topics and issues of today and yesteryear. A reporter that frequents this show with his good repore and wit is Mitch Album of the Detroit Free Press. Now to the heart of the matter. Not so long ago my Dad went to the book store and bought one of his books called The Five People You Meet in Heaven. I was slightly skeptical at first, but after some time spent in the intro I was hooked and didn't stop reading it until I finished the whole thing. The moral of the book is no matter how little you think you affect the world or others your always doing something to affect others. I was enthralled by the good nature of the book and wanted more. I found out that he had another book out on the shelves and made my plan to capture all of the prose found in it as well. Christmas time was just around the corner and I went to my local book store and picked up a copy for my Dad, having a dual purpose of course, and gave it to him for Christmas. I read it before he could. It is titled Tuesdays with Morry. I have written all of this to say one thing as follows: if you are looking for a book that may change your life or might lead you in a direction that could change others lives, go buy a Bible, but if your looking to have a good read that is based on life experience and true love and compassion for man kind go buy these to books. Mitch Album may well be my favorite new author.

On a Lighter Note

I had a great Valentines Day. With school, work, and church taking up the majority of my time these days I just haven't had much time to get any posts up on my site here lately which I apologize for, but I've noticed a few things in today's world that I just can't seem to get past. Number one on my list is the fact that today's athletes don't seem to think that cheating is an issue which sports should be concerned about, at least not when it comes to steroids. I guess it's just one of those small inconveniences that sports should overlook. When your head swells up to the size of a beach ball and you start hitting home runs that seem never to fall your just having a good year. For goodness sakes, the FBI has even released info that it informed the MLB about the use of steroids in the early 90's and nothing was done. Are we really putting the importance on what is real in the game or are we starting to worry more about our shoe deals and how many homers we hit than trying to win the championship and be a good example for the kids that look up to us? I don't know. Maybe my vision isn't blurred by the mark of strong steroid use and horse tranquilizers. To say the least I certainly think baseball needs to reevaluate their drug testing program and what is most important in the sport.

My Favorite Over Advertised , Money Grubbing Time of the Year

Well, its come to my attention that its Christmas time once again. I've been told that I'm supposed to make merry and joyful, but all the advertising and asking me to spend more of my hard earned bucks on things that shouldn't matter but always seem to, is starting to piss me right off. This will be my 22nd Christmas and people let me tell you something, I'm getting quite tired of the meaning of Christmas being buying more gifts and going to more parties rather than concentrating on the things that truly matter. You may be asking yourself at this very moment.......What things really matter? I'm going to tell you. It's going to church and celebrating the birth of the savior of the world and spending time with family and friends. The thing is, this whole holiday was started about 2000 years ago when the birth of a man started this holiday. I know the gifts we give today represent the gifts given by the three wise guys, but I don't think Jesus ever got a "Tickle me Elmo" or anything like that. I'm pretty sure a lot of people need to rethink their reasons for giving and exactly what they give because most of these companies that do all of this advertising for seasons greetings and most other things are giving very little and receiving a lot more. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying stop giving cause Lord knows I do it too, but when you buy something for someone make it meaningful don't make it what's cool because as I think about how a lot of the toys that I thought were so cool back in the day, how many of those toys and things are cool now........not very many I guarantee. Enough of cynicism.......Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Jason Giambi, Hows your Testicles Daaahh?

This post goes out to all the baseball players who have small testicles, a huge cranium, and oversized muscles (this means steroids to you lay persons out there). What are you all thinking? Now I know that to keep up with all of the other players in the league you might actually have to put in some extra hard work in the offseason and do the extra things to make you better, but if I recall correctly that's pretty much a part of every job. To get the added bonuses, to get the better positions, to move up "the corporate ladder" you have to go the extra mile and do the extra work and that never involved taking shortcuts. Some people might think its easier to sleep their way to the top or backstab and suck-up, but these are the same people who are not respected in their profession. I now no longer respect most baseball players for this reason. Instead of working hard in the offseason to make themselves better for their team and family they take shortcuts called untraceable steroids. I hope if Steinbriner, ever does one thing that I respect, it will be to get rid of Giambi and any other players in his evil empire that are steroid users. The same goes out to my beloved Atlanta Braves and any other teams in the league. Also to the players, what kind of a message are you sending to kids. Well its a pretty crappy one if you didn't know. Kids today idolize the players in the big leagues of many different sports and you are teaching them all of the wrong things. Well I'll leave you with this one thought, When your 55 and your testicles are the size of BB's and you have Bitch tits, and a number of tumors eating away at your body you might regret the whole thing about getting the extra edge.

What a Bunch of BCAssssssssss!!!!!!

Well Ladies and Gentlemen, I have a bone to pick to with the BCS. Auburn wins the SEC, goes undefeated during the regular season in the hardest conference in the nation and still doesn't get a shot at playing for the national championship. Now I do understand that USC played some of the perennial powerhouses such as Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona State and Arizona, and Oklahoma finding their best competitive match up in their conference championship being the 6-5 Colorado Buffaloes. Well all that being said I couldn't be happier with the Sugar Bowl. I just don't understand how we get the privaledge of playing a 10-2 Virginia Tech team since there are two other note worthy teams that are undefeated this season. All right let me get down to the heart of the matter.......Screw the BCS, Screw the Bowl system, and give me playoffs or give me death. All of that being said, Auburn is getting shafted.

Auburn, How you Daaahh?

Well everyone, I just have to say this football season has been one wild and crazy ride for me and the fam. I am one of the biggest Auburn University football fans you might ever meet. I have been enjoying their wild ride to the top of the polls but if we win out and don't get that top BCS bowl bid I think I might just not be happy (to put it nicely). We have a good team in the University of Alabama to play this week who has one of the top defenses in the country, but also one of the weekest offenses. Normally, on paper this game would be an easy call for anyone, but with it being the type of rivalry that it is, it's rarely an easily won game by either side. Then we are left with the SEC title game in Atlanta against a struggling Tennessee team, but they are going to be in the title game so who knows. I don't know if we will win out, but if we do I will certainly be pretty upset if we don't get the chance to play in the National title game. Yes, I know, Oklahoma has a claim to the game too, but when you paly in a conference championship game against a team that could likely be 6-5, I'm not sure that counts as a tough confernce schedule. Anyway's, I want to see Auburn in and get a chance to paly for the big one.

To My Blog Family and ALL my Loyal Readers

Alright guys......Calm down.....I think what your doing is taking my OPINION out of context. Secondly to Martyr, I had no plans of bringing Maximus in on this........Thanks. I'm not sure where you got that idea from. I can defend myself when it comes to the art of rhetoric and BS. Also, the idea of a blog is a place to voice one's opinion, not a place to tell someone how it is. All OSJ was doing was voicing his opinion in the hope that I would get mad and frustrated and fire back at him. Don't get me wrong I'm going to address that in a moment, but I'm not mad or frustrated I'm just voicing my opinion. I don't think that I've ever been told how it was by a Right Wing-Nut. They deffinently voiced their opinion a time or two , but none of them have ever told me how it was because they don't all know for sure. To my good buddy OSJ.....My friend you have exemplified what this sight is all about....The freedom to speak one's mind and creating conversation. I respect your beliefs on our growing situtation in Iraq and don't find fault in but one lone element of your argument which is as follows: you say that this man doesn't deserve trial. He may not deserve trial, but my point was this under the Geneva Convention he is afforded a fair hearing in a military court to decide whether or not he needs to go to trial. Now I ask you, which military court in this land is going to send a terrorists case to trial? I'm pretty sure there isn't one....Except maybe the Air Force (right Mic?). Just joking, but my second point is this if we don't follow proper procedure we may be correct and not infringing on anyone's "Rights" because they planned harm, but if we make it a habit are we ready to sacrifice the "Rights" of ourselves and others down the road? I don't think that I am able to do that, but if you are then I suppose that is your perogotive. Now, finally, to ALL my faithful readers I say this: THIS SIGHT IS CREATED TO INSPIRE CONVERSATION ABOUT A BROAD RANGE OF TOPICS NOT NECESSARILY PREVALENT TO ANYTHING IMPORTANT BUT NOT NECESSARILY UNIMPORTANT EITHER. IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU READ HERE THEN DON'T COME BACK. IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT I SAY TAKE IT AS MY OPINION AND ONLY THAT. JUST DON'T COME HERE SEEKING THE TRUTH. This certain analyst had a guest on the show and they were discussing the fact about a case where a man was arrested on charges of being a terrorist. Don't get me wrong here I don't think we should let terrorists hang out in our country or anywhere but if what I understood was correct he is being held with out a trial or hearing all due to the orders of our President of these United States. Ok....Some of you are thinking this guy has to be nuts to go against what the President decrees, but I think that our government is designed for us to be able to question him. I know we don't have the right to say just anything and get away with it but we also have laws and regulations to abide by. These laws set forth by the Geneva convention entitle this man to a fair hearing to see if his case needs to go to trial. Now I digress, the main point is that Billy boy was fighting against this man's right to a fair and legal process. Well like my Dad has told me a million times, " Boy opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one and most of them stink." I totally agree, not that mine doesn't, but the fact remains anyone's opinion doesn't change the fact as to whether or not this man deserves the right to a fair process. Now if Bill had committed a horrible crime and he had gotten caught, sexual harassment suit, he would be asking for a fair trial too now wouldn't he? Oh wait.....He already settled out of court. Anyway I guess I said all of that to say one thing....No matter who we think we are or no matter who we really are I still believe in getting a fair shot and our day in court. Now as to whether or not we are truly guilty that is up to the courts and a jury of our peers to decide. Bill O.......How do you like thaaaaatt?

This Weekend was Blaaahh

Well people, I've got to tell you that this weekend was quite possibly one of the most boring I have encountered in a while. While it was nice to get to relax, I would have liked for there to have been a little bit of excitement. What are all these people doing on Friday and Saturday nights? Well they deffinently are not hanging out at the places that I'm going. Maybe if someone knows they could leave me a comment telling me where all the cool kids are going these days. Maybe I just need to get really deperate and sign up for Yahoo personals....or maybe MSN....yeah, thats the ticket. Wow! Don't think I've sunk that low just yet. I just think these women just need to get up and get out there and take a chance on meeting someone instead of waiting for Mr. Right to walk into their life. Get out there women! Find Mr. Right Now and then use him (me) for all he's worth. You know what better than that just stay at home cause I'm probably going to be too shy to talk to you anyway. Maybe I need to start using my pickup line in from the previous post. Don't really know, but women just suck! Awww, don't get mad women you say the same things about men all the time. So here's to you women. How you Daaahh?

Latrell, How is your money Daaahh?

Listen up closely people, I'm not an economic genius by any stretch of the means but I'm pretty sure you can feed a lot of people for one year with 1 million dollars. It has been brought to my attention by my "Main Man" Tony Kornheiser and my "Dog" Michael Wilbon (both hosts of the show PTI, Pardon The interruption of ESPN) that Latrell Spreewell is not going to start playing this year until he has a new contract extension which meets his expectations. Now don't get me wrong he is a high caliber player on a good team which does deserve some degree of merit, but this year he is due to make 14.7 million and the offer the T-wolves have on the table for him would give him 10 million for each extended year of the contract. His reasoning for not accepting the contract was, and I quote, "I have to feed my family." Yes really that is what he said. Your eyes do not deceive you. Now unless his family happens to be all of Somalia or they are all allergic to anything other than caviar then he should be able to feed them for well under 10 million dollars. The greed involved in professional sports today is just unbelievable to me. So I say to Latrell......How you Duuuummmmaaaassss.

GW and JK Duke it Out

Well folks, I'm here to tell you, the election is over......but is it really? Are we going to be faced with the same antics we were last year and more importantly of recent times? I'm sorry to say I don't have the answer to that question. I also really wish that I could care alot more about who's going to be our next President, but I'm struggling with that issue as well. Now don't get me wrong I did my civic duty as it were, but when I sat down to mark that crazy sheet with the line to decide our fate I definintly felt a sense of melancholy that hasn't been there in a long time. No matter which way I marked I knew that it was not going to be a mark for the better. I was trying to choose who I was willing to put up with for four years of fun. By the time this president has left office things in my life will most likely have changed drastically. I will have graduated from college, hopefully gotten a job to provide myself with a future, and if I'm lucky I might have met a good woman to settle down with. Besides all of that, I really didn't want to vote for either one of them. I think the deciding factor should be a 15 round epic boxing match for the ages with Mike Tyson as the referee. I would gladly watch that instead of seeing Dan Rather tell me what states they estimate that a candidate has won. I don't think there is going to be any decision on this election today, tomorrow or this week for that matter. I just want it to be over so I can know who I'm going to have to put up with for another four years. Presidential Election........How you Daaahh?

Giiiirrrrlll, How you daaahh?

Have you ever been trying to think of that one line to introduce yourself to that girl or guy across the room, but you just couldnt come up with anything to say? Man (or woman whatever the case may be) have i got the line for you! Just walk up place your hand firmly in theirs with a good firm hand shake and say, "My name is (insert your name here). How you daaahh?" It's a no loose situation. I mean not only is it a great ice breaker cause it will make him or her laugh but he or she will have to ask where you might have come up with such jargon. Tell them where you found out about the Daaahh and then you can tell them they can use it as well.

Taylor's General Warning: If you happened to get smacked or laughed at for acting like an idiot don't blame me. This is only a suggestion. I repeat only a suggestion for a pickup line. If it doesn't work use one of the tried and true like: "Is that windex in your pants? Because i can really see myself in them."

The Freakin Weekend

Well ladies and gentlemen, I went to my uncle's wedding this weekend and it reminded me just how much i dont want to be the one standing at the front of the church. I'm so not ready to be the one at the front of the church. Not to say that I'm not happy for my uncle and all, but this means forever for him....the same lady.....day in......day out......FOREVER!!!!! Wow, can you tell I'm afraid of commitment? Well, thing about it is I will continue to do my dang thang as they say, but I don't look for that to involve getting married anytime in the near future. I said all this to say late Happy Holloween and ask someone today, "How you daaahh?" Maybe it will brighten their day and if they dont understand what in the world your saying or asking explain the meaning and tell them to use it when they get the chance.
Peace ya'll.
